I'm glad you photographed this vintage sign. One day this unique landmark will be just a memory. I think this image is best placed in the category of new urban topographic. Perhaps it could also be placed in Barrett's explanatory category because the image deals with something that is specific to a particular time period in Phoenix. It was a good choice to photograph the parking lot and the building along with the sign. This additional information provides the viewer with the social context of the sign. Shooting in color is definitely an important factor in documenting the unique characteristics of this sign. I will look for it next time I am in that part of the valley!
